Description
Isabel trained Equitano for 10 years. Together they made their way in the dressagesport. The foundation of Coolhorses and the decision of Isabel to start in a professional way with dressage, was due to Equitano. He is that one special horse were Isabel had a true connection with and were she gained a lot of experience with. They learned different trainingmethods, like alternative trainings with Emiel Voest. But also toptrainers like Nicole Werner, Ton De Ridder, Carmen De Bondt, Wim Verwimp... helped to control his difficult character. It was due to Nicole that Isabel could handle this fierce horse. When he was 13 years old he started to give in and became more quiet. Years of training finally paid off and Isabel had the time of her life with him8 From level 2 in the regional competitions to international small tour level they grew together!
In 2011 was the last year they participated in the small tour. Isabel decided to stop with competing him at his highlight. She felt that it became more difficult to keep and train him in that level. He already was 16 years old as well.
In 2012 Isabel decided to let a Junior rider compete him, because he was still in a good shape to do some lower trainings. Charlotte De Picker, the first student of Isabel, hopped into the saddle and there was a match! They won the cup of Belgium for Junior riders!
Unfortunately 2013 was the end of Equi's career. Charlotte stopped with horseriding and Isabel saw this as the opportunity to retire Equitano. He stayed at Coolhorses and was in the field with the love of his life 'Osaka'. At the end of 2014 Equitano had a bad accident in the field. It seemed like a colic first, and Isabel drove him to the clinic to operate him. She saw that it was really not good with him, and said goodbye to her best friend before the operation started. One hour later the clinic called to say he died from his injuries. His midriff was almost completely ripped of inside because of a wrong fall.
A pitty that he died like that. But Isabel honours him still and will never forget him: his pictures are hanging in the indoor and in the stables. We will never ever forget this wonderful horse!

They won brons with the team! It also were the best results for Equitano and Isabel at an international show. Unfortunately the federation wanted to have a Walloon rider in the team to get a subsidy.
